Between History and tradition
Donato says ...
"… I was born in Bari in 1952 and at the age of 11 years, having lost my father, I began to work to help financially my family.
My first work experience, as pizza express boy, took place at the historic Pizzeria Minuccio D. Ficarella, located in Via Principe Amedeo in the heart of the neighborhood in which I was free for a few years "stealing" trade secrets.
At age 15 I decided to make my first season as an emerging pizza maker in the Adriatic Riviera, Rimini and I completed professionally.
Returning to Bari have been for five years at Taverna Verde pizza on the boardwalk near the Kursaal Santalucia.
At age 20 the plunge: I get married with Rosa and I decided to open my pizzeria. So Donato's Pizzeria was born in 1973 in Via Lattanzio 59.
Since that day, in addition to fried turnovers made by my mother and sandwiches in the oven so requested by the very young, I baked thousands of pizzas, from the most simple to the most sophisticated.
To ensure authenticity and a lot of imagination, as well as a lot of sympathy and kindness, there is also my son Enzo Carella who works with me with great success since 1983. So if you have not tried our pizza, come to find you first and then our friends and customers!
